- Grant Amount – R36,000
- Deadline – November 04, 2025
Nature Connect has been appointed as a facility to issue small grants on behalf of the Table Mountain Fund (TMF). These grants are dedicated to facilitating and supporting the entry of new organisations and individuals into the conservation sector.
.
We are now inviting applications for the 2026 funding cycle – the final year of this three-year project.
.
Grant Focus and Funding Amount
- Nature Connect seeks projects that demonstrate a strong link between community participation and conservation. Grants of up to R36 000 are available per project, and only one application per organisation will be accepted.
Projects should be based in the greater Cape Town area, within the Cape Floristic Region (CFR), and show a core focus on:
- Improving the locally indigenous environment
- Upskilling under-resourced communities in the green economy
- Empowering youth and women through awareness & education
Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate partnerships or linkages to established conservation sites.
.
Funding Priorities
Nature Connect is looking for projects that address one or more of the following themes:
- Biodiversity enhancement – e.g. clean-ups, habitat restoration/rehabilitation, indigenous planting
- Sustainable livelihoods – e.g. recycling initiatives, capacity building, or upskilling in the green economy
- Environmental education and awareness – particularly within under-resourced communities
- Integrated projects – that combine two or more of the above focus areas
Eligibility:
We encourage applications from:
- New organisations entering the conservation sector, especially those growing community, youth, and female participation. (Registered NPOs in good standing will be considered if proposing a new project.)
- Individuals or community groups wishing to establish themselves in the conservation space, particularly those from under-resourced communities. (Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding from Nature Connect.)
Please note: The small grant will not fund conferences, bursaries, scholarships, or large capital items. A maximum of 20% of the grant may be allocated to salaries. Given the competitive nature of this call, meeting all requirements does not guarantee funding.
- Following an initial review, shortlisted applicants will be notified by 19 November and invited to present their projects in person to the review panel during the week of 24–28 November 2025.
- The review panel will then select and notify the successful grantees, with projects aiming to start mid-December/January.
