The IFRA-Nigeria Research Grant 2026 provides an opportunity for scholars to conduct research in the humanities and social sciences across West Africa.

The focus areas for this grant include Beliefs, bodies and health, Citizenship, gender and mobilisation, Heritage dynamics and environment, and Digital Humanities.

The IFRA-Nigeria Research Grant supports projects for a duration from January to October 2026. Projects may be individual or collective and can include fieldwork missions or archival research. Each grant can provide up to €1,000 depending on the scope and budget of the project. Applicants are encouraged to develop sustainable partnerships with institutions or researchers in the host country.

Eligibility:
- This grant is open to second-year master’s students, doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, and other scholars engaged in research within the humanities and social sciences.
- Eligible research must be conducted in Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Niger, Chad, or Burkina Faso.
