Applied Research Grant Program

The Organization for Autism Research (OAR) has announced its Applied Research Competition, inviting Letters of Intent for studies that expand evidence-based knowledge and improve quality of life for autistic individuals and their families.

.

The focus areas, objectives, priorities and themes for this opportunity encompass a wide range of research needs related to autism, including evaluating and comparing current assessment, intervention and service delivery models, exploring applied educational, behavioral, and social-communicative interventions and developing effective supports across the lifespan for individuals severely affected by ASD.

.

They also address issues faced by autistic adults such as education, employment, residential support, sexuality instruction and quality-of-life factors, along with areas related to family support, community integration, challenging behavior and technology-based learning tools.

.

Additionally, the competition prioritizes studies that expand evidence-based knowledge, influence public policy and enhance quality of life, while highlighting key themes such as belonging and interpersonal skills, communication and language, community-based and community-engaged research, community living, gender and sexual health, access to services, intersectionality and diversity, mid-life and older adults and overall physical and mental health.

.
