Benefits
- The fellowship offers a competitive monthly stipend based on the host location, providing Euro 2,300 for fellows placed in Trieste, Italy, US$ 1,749 for those conducting their research in New Delhi, India, and ZAR 27,500 for participants hosted in Cape Town, South Africa.
- The fellowship spans two years, with the possibility of extension for an additional year.
- Medical insurance, visa-related reimbursements and research-related expenses are covered, while participation in academic events is typically supported by the Group Leader.
- Family-related financial or administrative assistance is not provided.
- Accommodation support varies by location, with Trieste offering contact lists for housing, New Delhi providing a campus guest house and Cape Town arranging accommodation prior to arrival. All fellowships begin on 1 October 2026 at their respective centres in Trieste, New Delhi and Cape Town.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State and cannot undertake the fellowship in their home country unless they have been living abroad for at least three years at the time of application.
- Candidates must hold a recent PhD in Life Sciences or possess a minimum of three years of research experience, with preference given to individuals below the age of thirty-five.
