The UNDP COMDEKS-SGP programme has opened its 2025 call for proposals, offering small grants of up to US$30,000 under COMDEKS Phase 4 to non-governmental organizations, civil society groups and community-based organizations.
.
This funding opportunity aims to strengthen and sustain biodiversity management, good environmental governance and resilient livelihood practices among local communities within the Afadzato South socio-ecological production landscape in Ghana’s Volta Region.
.
The grant focuses on advancing a participatory model of conservation across diverse ecosystems and supporting work that can inform national and local policy development, including the use of OECM principles under CBD guidelines. Proposed initiatives are also expected to deliver field-level activities that enhance natural ecosystem conservation, wildlife protection and sustainable resource management. In addition, COMDEKS 4 prioritizes actions that help build a circular economy through measures such as decarbonization, renewable energy promotion, climate adaptation and recycling.
.
Funding will be directed toward efforts that contribute to the conservation, sustainable use and restoration of terrestrial biodiversity. Priority activities include sustainable landscape management and restoration, as well as knowledge management that supports capacity development, replication and upscaling of successful practices across the landscape.
.
Eligibility:
To qualify for the grant award, the applicant must:
- Be non-profit or non-governmental organizations legally allowed to operate in Ghana, or community-based groups and social enterprises recognized by local authorities.
- They must also have relevant experience working with communities on environmental, forestry or agricultural initiatives, and should already be based in, or actively working within, the Afadzato South Socio-Ecological Production Landscape.
