The Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance has been announced to strengthen immunisation coverage across nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria.
.
The initiative aims to support efforts that will ensure every child is protected from preventable diseases through improved routine immunisation activities and stronger community engagement.
.
The primary objective of the grant is to increase immunisation rates by tracking and vaccinating zero-dose and underimmunised children. It also seeks to address vaccine hesitancy by engaging non-compliant households and ensuring that children in those homes receive the necessary vaccines. Another key focus is on improving data quality in selected health facilities to ensure accurate tracking of progress. In addition, the grant supports result-oriented advocacy that encourages increased budget allocation and the timely release of funds for routine immunisation and primary healthcare.
