The United Nations Environment Programme has launched a call for proposals to identify national non-profit organizations to serve as implementing partners for its InTex Africa Project.
.
The initiative will be rolled out in Kenya, South Africa, and Tunisia, with one implementing partner to be selected in each country. These partners will be tasked with delivering one or both of the project’s core outputs, as well as participating in cross-country collaboration.
.
The InTex Africa Project focuses on enhancing sustainability in the textile sector through eco-innovation, life cycle assessment (LCA), and circular economy principles. Selected partners will receive specialized training and ongoing guidance from UNEP to ensure a shared understanding of the methodologies and tools used within the project. UNEP will also provide simplified templates and assessment tools that can be adapted to suit each country’s context.
.
Benefits:
- Funding for each selected organization will range between USD 50,000 and USD 200,000, depending on experience, the scope of activities, and available funds.
- Legal agreements outlining deliverables, timelines, and budgets will be finalized between UNEP and the selected partners after the selection process.
- While UNEP intends to engage one organization per country, applicants are allowed to bring in additional expertise from other entities as individual consultants.
- However, in keeping with UNEP rules, sub-contracts and procurement costs must not exceed 15% of the total budget or USD 20,000, whichever is lower.
Eligibility:
- To be eligible, applicants must be legally registered not-for-profit organizations based in the country they are applying to serve.
- They must demonstrate experience in managing similar-scale projects, possess relevant local language skills, and show strong technical ability to deliver on time.
- Proposals will be evaluated on their clarity, relevance, and the quality of the application overall.
