Call for Proposals: Komesha FGM Sasa (Kenya)

The ActionAid Kenya, with funding from the European Union and grant management by UNFPA Kenya, is inviting proposals from grassroots, women-led, youth-led, survivor-led, and community-rooted organizations committed to ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Kenya.

The Komesha FGM Sasa! program, is a programme run by UNFPA Kenya Country Office with funding from the European Union. The project is an initiative aimed at accelerating the abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Kenya, in alignment with the national goal of ending the practice by 2026. The project’s objective is to support Kenya’s effort to effectively eradicate Female Genital Mutilation.

Objectives

This programme aims to:

  • Strengthen community-led mechanisms for sustainable FGM prevention and response.
  • Create a comprehensive and collaborative approach to FGM eradication.
  • Improve access to community-based services on the eradication of FGM.
  • Enhance the capacity of frontline actors to effectively engage in advocacy, case management and social norm change.
  • Foster inclusive dialogues that amplify voices from target communities and mobilize grassroots actions.
Eligibility:
  • Local grassroots organizations implementing anti-FGM interventions from the “Komesha FGM Sasa!” programme areas in the 7 counties; Isiolo (Isiolo sub-county), Garissa (Lagdera sub-county), Marsabit (Marsabit South), Wajir (Wajir East), Tharaka Nithi (ChukaIgambang’ombe), West Pokot (Pokot Central), Elgeyo Marakwet (Marakwet East) Only), or demonstrate plan to impact communities from the targeted regions.
  • Legally registered with the PBORA or County Department of Social Services and with an organizational leadership and operation structure including an organization bank account and a clear delegation of signing authorities.
  • Demonstrate capacity to impact communities on anti-FGM.
  • Comply with AAIK values, child protection, safeguarding and do-no-harm guidelines.
  • Must be committed to feminist principles and human rights-based approaches.
