Mérieux Foundation Small Grants Program

The Mérieux Foundation recently relaunched its Small Grants Programme, offering a valuable funding window for grassroots organisations committed to improving maternal and child health in developing countries.

.

Through this initiative, small local groups working on preventing, diagnosing or treating infectious diseases — particularly those affecting mothers and children — can apply for grants of up to €5,000.

.

Eligibility:

  • Organisations must have non-profit status or equivalent public-interest recognition in their country of operation,
  • Possess a track record of at least three years’ legal registration, and have two years’ experience relevant to the project’s intervention area.
  • The mission of the applying organisation must align with Mérieux Foundation’s mandate: fighting infectious diseases disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations, especially mothers and children.

Project proposals must be developed and implemented by local actors, rooted in the community, and show strong collaboration with local authorities, associations or beneficiary groups. They should be based on a locally assessed need, harmonised with existing health initiatives in the area, and demonstrate sustainable, long-term impact. Projects focused solely on research, or only on awareness-raising and education, are not eligible.
