The African Reproductive Justice Litigation Fund

The Ahaki Foundation is offering a transformative funding opportunity through its LIRA Fund, aimed at advancing reproductive justice across Africa.

.

This grant supports indigenous African organisations working on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) by promoting strategic, evidence-based, and collaborative litigation initiatives. The LIRA Fund is designed to help organisations adapt and innovate in challenging funding environments while strengthening their capacity to protect and expand access to SRHR services for vulnerable and marginalized communities.

.

For the 2026–2027 cycle, the fund will focus on empowering indigenous African organisations that demonstrate deep contextual understanding and practical engagement with reproductive justice issues. The goal is to help these organisations adapt, innovate, and build resilience in response to shrinking funding opportunities, while promoting regional solidarity and sustainable growth.

.

Priority will be given to initiatives that pursue strategic litigation aimed at protecting access to SRHR services and providing legal representation for vulnerable and marginalized groups. This includes adolescents, persons with disabilities, and individuals affected by restrictive SRHR laws. Projects that address these challenges directly are seen as crucial for maintaining and expanding rights and services.

.

This funding represents a vital opportunity for local organisations to strengthen their legal and advocacy work, expand access to reproductive health services, and ensure that vulnerable populations are protected under increasingly restrictive environments.
